Looking for a digital keyboard with more than 61 keys? Have a look at the Yamaha YPG series of keyboards. These are the grand size keyboards with 88 keys, and can be used for playing all the piano pieces. Are you an intermediate level keyboard player who wants to graduate from his 61 key electronic keyboard to an 88 key musical keyboard? Are you interested in playing classical music, or want to learn a lot of advanced pieces? An 88 key keyboard is what you will need, and the Yamaha YPG series produces one of the best 88 key keyboards, also known as grand size keyboards. The YPG series keyboard is primarily meant for the North American market, and contains the usual hundreds of musical styles and voices. But a lot of people prefer these keyboards because of the availability of weighted keys in this series of keyboards, which resembles more like a piano. This way they can use it for piano practice and it also gives them the flexibility to carry them around, since they are comparatively light weight. As you go higher in the series, the more expensive ones contain graded hammer action which exactly simulates the keys on a grand piano. The keys are harder to play in the lower octaves and lighter in the higher octaves. But because of the graded hammer action, the weight also comparatively increases. Some of the models in this series include – the ypg 635, ypg 535, and the ypg 235. So if you are looking for a keyboard with more than 61 keys, if you love playing songs on top of a backing rhythm, then you need to consider a Yamaha YPG keyboard. This series contains both 76 keys keyboards as well as 88 keys keyboards. Great Deals on Yamaha YPG Keyboards

The Yamaha DGX Keyboard is suitable for players who are keen to learn the piano, but also enjoy features like the musical styles that are available on musical keyboards. The reason they do not go in for a plain digital piano is because they like the auto accompaniment feature which lets them play along with the various built-in rhythms. But Yamaha already has the YPG series, so how different is the DGX series from the YPG? Actually there is no difference and they more or less refer to the same set of keyboards. The only difference is that they target different markets. For instance YPG is commonly sold in the American market whereas DGX is mostly sold in the European and other regions. The DGX keyboards are not going to replace YPG keyboards or vice-versa, atleast there is no communication from Yamaha as of now on this. They exist purely to distinguish between the various regions as well as the mass market retailers such as Best Buy, Circuit City, COSTCO. Each of these stores either of these two series of keyboards. As far as the features are concerned, you can expect to find all the yamaha specific features like the USB to HOST / USB to DEVICE interfaces, keyboard lessons using the yamaha education suite, ability to download sheets using the digital music notebook, connecting to the internet using the internet direct connection, and performance assistant technology to enhance your keyboard playing. These grand keyboards have great sounding built-in stereo speakers as well as have the option of connecting headphones for silent piano practice. Depending on the DGX model you choose, you can get the weighted graded hammer action for real piano like experience.
